FOUNDED IN 1976, NIFAD is a 501(c)(6) non-profit professional, member-based association dedicated to the fire and life safety industry. Our members reach across the United States and Canada, with several members established worldwide.
Core Purpose & Members
The organization's focus is to foster collaboration, discuss technological advancements, share best practices, and improve overall fire and life safety. Its network bridges the gap between buyers and sellers in the industry by connecting four primary membership groups:
Engineered Systems Distributors/Dealers (ESDs): Distributors/Dealers and integrators who design, install, and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems. This is a voting membership.
Suppliers & Manufacturers: Global entities that create fire and life safety system equipment and share engineering or technical expertise.
Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs): Fire officials and regulators who ensure installations meet legal safety codes and standards.
Affiliate Members: Any individual, firm, partnership that offers professional services to other NIFAD Members. Affiliate Members can be an industry service organization, a non-profit organizations, associations, academic institutions, governmental agencies and professionals (both individuals and companies) with an interest or affiliation in fire protection as approved by the NIFAD Board of Directors.
NIFAD - OUR GOALS
To establish, maintain, and conduct an association composed primarily of Industry representatives/sellers/buyers of fire alarms and other related fire and suppression systems and devices.
To assist our member base in the collaboration, promotion of the demand for and the sale of fire and life safety systems and related products, by promotional work.
To represent Members and their interests in common in state and federal agencies, the market, and before the public.
To circulate books, e-mail blasts, pamphlets, periodicals, papers, and magazines in connection with the activities of the corporation.
To offer educational, technology and promotional webinars to our Members. At no cost.
To bring both Buyers and Sellers together during the year via marketing and communication tools and at our Annual Conference via networking events and our well-known, Speed Networking, and the ESD Exchange.
